Australian children and families at risk of homelessness this Christmas
Where would you go if you were escaping domestic violence? Who would you turn to for help?
For some parents like Georgie* and her 3 young children, they face a terrifying situation - knowing their children’s
lives are in danger but having nowhere safe to go. With no family or friends to turn to, they risk homelessness
and hunger in order to find safety after years of abuse.
Right now, in Australia the need for homelessness support has never been more important. Not only do we see
a spike in domestic violence at Christmas^ but the current pandemic is making it worse. It’s crucial that children
and parents escaping domestic violence have somewhere safe to stay.
Your support this Christmas can help provide life-saving crisis accommodation to families who have nowhere
else to turn. With many homeless shelters and refuges at full capacity over the festive season, it’s vital that
we work together to provide those most vulnerable with a roof over their heads and the support they need
to get back on their feet.
Please help children and families in crisis this Christmas.
